Please shower or bathe before your exam with a non-deodorant soap.
Do not use deodorant, perfumes, lotion or powders because they can appear as artifacts on the breast images.
Wear a two-piece outfit.
Bring information about where and when you had your last mammogram so we can obtain images for comparison to your current mammogram.
You will be asked to undress from the waist up and wear a patient gown.
The technologist will position your breasts on the mammography equipment, and firm pressure will be applied. It may be unpleasant, but it is necessary to obtain quality images.
Inform the technologist if the pressure is painful or seems too firm. The pressure will be released as soon as the image is acquired.
This process will repeat several times.
The exam will take about 30 minutes.
